2012 was the year of the music festivals – Main Square, Cognac, Melle etc etc.
This year, 2013, has so far … and will be … the year of masquerades and disguises – involving – hats, gowns, breeches, masks, wigs, waistcoats, polka dots, spats, bow ties and much much more !
Prohibition Party – Bloomsbury Ballroom
It all started in early February with a trip back to the UK to a Prohibition Party at Bloomsbury Gardens in London.
Flapper dress, feather boa and elbow length gloves – dress shirt, waistcoat and spats – were the correct attire for this evening.
We went along with two close friends and booked a hotel close by to the event.
The venue was totally stunning with art deco windows and mirrors. The ball room transformed us all back to the 1920s with everyone dancing the Charleston and the Black Bottom.
All cocktails were served in china teacups, the cocktail list printed and pasted into second hand books. A back room gambling den with a roulette wheel and pretend money all added to the ambiance of the night. Candles on each table were placed inside china teacups as well.
We stumbled back to the hotel around 2.30am.
